Give Me 10 Program

This message to National Board Member from California Col Bill Gavitt and two Members from Florida is being placed here as the beginning of the subject so as all following discussion pertaining to this matter hopefully will likewise be posted here so that there will be one location for easy viewing and reference.
In a message dated 6/15/2006 12:19:14 P.M. Pacific Standard Time, ChrisG@moaa.org writes:
“Gentlemen:
Adm Ryan is concerned about the lack of support for this year’s GMT program. Lee and I are also concerned. What we have decided to do is twofold.
1) In those states with (xxxxxx) participation rates where there is or are board members who knows what the GMT program is all about, we’re going to ask them to “interface” with the state president and find out what’s going on (or not, as the case may be) and why. Let’s take Florida & California–our two biggest states. Florida has a 47% opt-in rate (21 out of 45 chapters) California has an opt-in rate of 40% (19 out of 47 chapters) Could you please talk to Larry Stumpf (Bill) and Bill Monk (Fred & Ron) and find out what we (collectively) need to do to get more of them involved in the GMT program–if that is even feasible. Time is ticking.
2) For those other states, Lee and I have agreed to divide them up and make individual calls to state presidents asking the same questions.
Lastly, if any of you has a personal relationship with another state president and thinks a call from you might help, let us know.

For CAL-MOAA Leaders:
The message above from Chris Giaimo is pretty self-explanatory.
What is not clear is why our participation rate in California is so (xxxxxx) (to quote my friend, Chris.) I would suggest that State Directors poll their Chapters and find out who has/has not requested the Give Me Ten package from MOAA and get them moving.
Go to the moaa.org web site and click on the Give Me Ten block on the right side of the home page and find beaucoup info.
We in the Riverside March Field Chapter will be trying some far-out ideas and will share them with you. We all win when even just one new member is recruited. There are so many separate chapter size categories that the playing field is leveled.
For starters, our RMF Chapter Board has agreed to pay for the two-year membership for each new member we get. Basically we are offering a free membership paid for by our Chapter. It is $24 for a regular member and only $19 for an Aux member. Now do the math. MOAA is going to rebate $10 for each new member, $100 for the first Ten new members, and your chapter and each recruiter will be entered into a drawing for $1000. What a deal.
Be careful when filling out the Membership Application. Put your Chapter Name and your name as Chapter Recruiter on the two lines above the middle of the form.
Be sure to include payment info on the bottom of the form and get the form back to your Chapter Membership person or Secretary before it is mailed to the Merrifield VA address at the bottom of the form.
Gloria, Can you create a Give Me Ten spot on the CAL-MOAA web site? We will invite postings with successful ideas from the chapters.
Let us improve on our low participation rate. Every chapter member should have a copy of the Membership Application in her purse or his billfold. Opportunities abound. Be ready.
Thanks,
Bill Gavitt

Bill, I will see if I can get Warren to write up something about the Give Me 10 Program and place it on the blog, asking for members to place any ideas they may have in the comment field. I will place an excerpt with a link to it on the main page of the cal-moaa site. Warren may have the capability to send emails to the chapter presidents from the cal-moaa site in the near future. This might help get all the chapters more involved with their own organization. Anything is worth a try.
Gloria
Hi Bill Gloria : This is very appropriate for the blog where we can keep all the comments and information in one area and then very importantly emphasize it with the link from the homepage. In addition with Gloria setting up Warren with a website email account for his easy access to all Chapter Presidents in relation to his coordinating on the Annual Meeting it’ll be useful in dealing with subject program. In the meantime I’ll make the first post on the subject basically starting with Chris’s message and possibly something from the archives I put up last year. Best regards, Bob.
