    Gleamed from Chapter Newsletters -
Verdugo Hills Chapter “OFFICERS CALL” Dec. 2006
” Bob Frome gave us a Financial Report as the end of November. We presently have $649 in the Scholarship Fund and $876 in the General Fund. $200 in the General Fund will go towards paying for lunch for the teenage singing group in Decemter. That amount was budgeted for the Christmas program a number of years ago.

In May, we will need at least $1,000 in the Scholarship Fund. We have been giving the JROTC Program at Crescenta Valley High $500 each of the last six years for use in their program. The Chapter members voted two months ago to give a $500 scholarship to an outstanding Crescenta Valley High School JROTC senior cadet starting in 2007. These two things would be done at their Awards Banquet in May or June. So you can see wee need to get at least $400 more in the Scholarship Fund.

When you send in your dues checks starting in January, try to place a little extra for the Scholarship Fund. We are not raising dues this year - with an occasional little extra from you, now and then, we will be able to get by. We have never had a large amount of money to play with, except for occasional large Scholarship donations, which were earmarked to go back to National.(Comment inserted by CdrBob this has been well over $10,000) The “Luncheon Money” is included in the General Fund. We make a small extra each month, but it goes to pay for our guest(s) lunch. And we have been doing all right with it. What the future holds, we don’t know until we can get situated into a regular meeting place again.
In addition the “A CALL TO ARMS!” Cal-MOAA blog post ( of 16Nov. by Cal-MOAA VPres Warren Enos) was printed in its’ entirety and followed by this “Verdugo Hills Chapter members—How do you feel about this?
Let Walt know. Should we back CAL-MOAA? We are so proud of our JROTC cadets and what they stand for.
(Walt being Chapter Pres. LTC Walter Winner, USAF-Ret).
