Give Me 10!

2007 CAMPAIGN STARTS MARCH 1ST
A big factor in MOAA recruiting success was the 2006 Give Me 10! campaign, which gained 2,515 new members, renewals and conversions to life membership. This is more than double the number recruited in 2005. If your chapter took part and it has not received the funds it earned it soon will.
The top recruiting council in the country was the Virginia Council which garnered 554 members. The winning chapter was the Southside, Va., chapter which recruited 319 members. With 75 percent of the Virginia Council’s chapters opting in to Give Me 10! and each of those chapters recruiting at least 10 new members, the council qualified for a “night out With MOAA.” So on Jan. 22 the Virginia council and chapter presidents and their spouses had dinner with Adm. Ryan, Lee Lange and Barry Wright in Richmond. I’m rooting for your council to win the award this year.
The 2007 campaign kicks off March 1, with recruits counted from Jan. 1. Campaign materials will be sent to each chapter. A key part of the program again will be credit given for free one year memberships to members currently serving on active duty or in drilling National Guard and Reserve units.
MOAA again will be offering two year memberships to retired members, former officers and survivors at reduced rates of $27 for members and $24 for auxiliary members. Life member conversions also will count. Incentives will stay the same, at $10 for each new member a chapter recruits, a $100 bonus for 10 new members and $20 for a life member’s conversion. Membership renewals will not count this year.
I wish each chapter success in this year’s Give Me 10! campaign, because each member recruited gives us a three-way win and a Plus: (1) MOAA gets a new member to increase our clout with Congress; (2) the chapter gains a new member and cash; the new member gets the advantages of membership in MOAA; and Plus, one recruiter and one new member will be a sweepstakes winner.
