SHOULD HELP CHAPTER GIVE ME 10! EFFORTS
The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), some 360,000 strong, is so confident in its professional association opportunities and benefits that it now offers a free, no obligation, first year membership to eligible active duty, National Guard, and Reserve officers.
In its December 2006 magazine issue MOAA states, “Every officer deserves the benefits of MOAA. A gift membership is a great way to introduce a friend or family member to MOAA. Through this special offer you may give a free one-year membership to an active duty, Guard or Reserve officer.”
Naltional MOAA members receive the “Military Officer” magazine, an attractive and information-filled publication, as well as a variety of fringe benefits including insurance, financial, real estate, educational services as well as travel, shopping, and legal discounts.
Local chapters on balance are very proud of the organization, activities and achievements. Chapter leaders believe if officers knew more about the local group, and especially the opportunities for fellowship and service, there would be greater interest in membership and participation. On that basis, many chapters are now offering a free first year, no obligation, membership to all local officers regardless of service status.
With a local chapter membership, officers will receive a copy of the chapter’s newsletter, often a fact filled useful information resource. Those with the interest and time have an opportunity to attend the chapter’s monthly/periodic general membership luncheon/dinner often held at a very nice hotel or other suitable location. It’s an opportunity to meet others, enjoy the camaraderie, join others in a nice meal, perhaps hear an interesting, informative, and often entertaining speaker, plus sometimes receive printed handouts of real value.
Officers who have been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor are eligible for a free MOAA lifetime membership.
National MOAA and the local chapters represent members to the wider military community, coordinate actions to protect and enhance earned entitlements, and communicate useful information in a timely manner.
Members of a local MOAA chapter can and will provide full instructions on how to obtain a free, no obligation, one year membership in MOAA and in some cases the local chapter. The location of local chapters can be found here: https://ebiz.moaa.org/solutionsite/default.aspx?tabid=144.
