PROGRAM STARTING MARCH 1ST WELL UNDERWAY

Earlier this year, Col Lee Lange II, USMC-Ret, Director, MOAA Councils and Chapters Department, sent a letter to all chapter leaders urging full participation in this year’s “Give Me 10!” campaign.

Here’s what he had to say:

Please join us in the 2007 “Give Me 10!” Chapter Recruiting Competition. You’ll be part of an MOAA nationwide campaign to build our membership and strengthen our chapters. With your help we’ll reach our goal of 2,500 new members–and we have terrific incentives to help you get us over the top. No sign up is required–just start recruiting.

For every new member your chapter signs up between March 1 and December 31, 2007, you’ll receive $10 ($20 for each new Life member) - plus a one-time $100 bonus when your chapter recruits ten new members. Additionally, top recruiting chapters will win a $1,000 prize and recruiters and new members will be entered in a sweepstakes worth $1,000.

So where will you find these new members? Here are a few good places to start:

–Currently serving officers: Offer complimentary one year MOAA memberships to active duty, Guard and drilling Reserve officers living in your local area;
–Chapter members who have not joined MOAA: Many chapter members have participated in chapter activities for years but are not currently MOAA national members;
–Potential members: Introduce MOAA to retired and former officers and surviving spouses. We will send you a list of prospects within your area.

To get you started, we’re sending you a “Give Me 10!” Chapter Recruitment Kit, in which you’ll find all the tools you need to launch an effective recruiting campaign. We will also be sending you recruitment lists, which may be helpful in your efforts.
