ANNUAL MEETING SET FOR EMBASSY SUITES HOTEL AND CONFERENCE CENTER
The Executive Committee (EXCOM) voted recently to hold the annual Council of Presidents meeting at the Embassy Suites Hotel, San Luis Obispo, during the period Friday through Sunday, November 30 to December 2, 2007, in order to conduct the Council’s business and provide opportunities for social interaction.
The Embassy Suites is a beautiful facility located just off highway 101 and not far from the famed Madonna Inn. The lobby is spacious, with plenty of room for receptions, dining, and relaxing. The two room suites are very nice with all the amenities. The meeting rooms are attractive and more than adequate, having all the necessary furniture, fixtures and equipment needed for PowerPoint presentations or films plus full member comfort.
A full breakfast is included in the $119 per night room price.
Members will be required to register for the meeting and make payment for the Saturday luncheon and banquet. The menu is yet to be selected and prices determined. Payment of the hotel room will be settled directly by the member.
There is a large and very nice shopping center adjacent to the hotel featuring most of the moderate to upscale stores and a wide variety of restaurants from steak houses, to Asian foods, to even fast foods.
Friday will be the inbound travel day. Arrival should be timed to allow a period of rest and relaxation. There will be an opportunity for area directors to schedule an early area dinner meeting, get acquainted, discuss some of the important agenda items, and seek a consensus on the issues. Later in the evening there will be an open EXCOM meeting, with all presidents invited to attend and participate fully.
The business session will take place most of the day Saturday. The main meeting room is large and spacious and allows attendees to sit at comfortable tables. Coffee, juices, and pastries are likely to be provided.
In the past, the objective was to provide presidents information of real value; consequently, the meeting was in large group session with guest speakers making presentations on legislation, auxiliaries, employer support of the Guard and Reserve, and similar topics. Presidents over the next few months will be able to recommend both content and process, and do that by contacting LtCol Larry Stumpf, USAF-Ret, Council President.
Saturday evening is set aside for a gala banquet, for good times together, installation of the new president and vice president, and perhaps a special guest speaker.
Sunday morning features breakfast together, some final conversation, and then travel home.
San Luis Obispo and the surrounding area is a delightful part of California’s Central Coast and in late November it will be the perfect location for the annual meeting.
