HOW TO RECRUIT NEW MEMBERS FOR “GIVE ME 10!”
Northeast Arkansas Chapter member COL Jerry Bowen, USA (RET), a past chapter president, council president and now serving on MOAA’s Board of Directors, believes recruiting begins at the state council level, and every state council should support the “Give Me 10!” campaign.
In addition, Bowen encourages chapter leaders to:
–Create a position for an active duty officer on their chapter’s board of directors;
–Target former officers who received their educatiojn through the military, such as doctors and financial planners;
–Sign up chapter members who are not members of national MOAA and offer them a free one-year chapter membership;
–Work on recruiting more Guard and Reserve members by reaching out and helping the local Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR);
–Undertake projects that would attract veterans, such as bringing the traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall to their city.
