RELATIVELY LOW COST ANNUAL MEETING 30 Nov-2 Dec 2007
It’s one thing to set a conference in downtown Hollywood with all its glitter and high costs.
And it’s another to set one in a gorgeous Central Coast college town, in this case San Luis Obispo, with its beauty and much lower costs.
The Council of Presidents will be conducting its annual meeting late this year at the Embassy Suites Hotel, San Luis Obispo. And relatively speaking, the costs are going to be very reasonable indeed.
The Reserve Officers Association (ROA) Department of California, the state group equivalent to CAL-MOAA, has scheduled its Fall 2007 Council Meeting at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel, not far from the Hollywood & Highland Centre, a short walk from the Grauman”s Chinese Theatre, the Kodak Theatre (Home of the Oscars and American Idol), the Hollywood Stars “Walk of Fame,” and more.
It sounds great, and it will likely be great, but the hotel cost is $199 plus a 14% city tax per day. At San Luis Obispo, the hotel cost will be $119 plus taxes.
ROA will charge a $30 registration fee and collect $40 for a luncheon and $60 for the banquet, or a package deal of $119. Although the exact prices are not known at this date, there likely will be no CAL-MOAA registration fee, but breakfasts will be provided as part of the room rate, and the luncheon and banquet meals will be closer to $60-70.
Annual meeting planners are working hard to arrange a high quality experience at the lowest possible costs.
San Luis Obispo was chosen as the site for the 2007 annual meeting because of a very favorable hotel experience earlier and because of the city’s location, providing convenience for travelers from both ends of the state and everywhere in between.
