ACHIEVING SUCCESS

Col Lee Lange II, USMC-Ret, Director, MOAA Director Councils and Chapters Affairs, speaking at the May 19th Chapter Presidents Leadership Workshop, Vandenberg Air Force Base, urged chapter presidents to help MOAA National achieve its goal of adding 2600+ new members during 2007.

He said this year’s Give Me 10! Campaign operates from March 1, 2007 through December 31st with all chapters considered to be participating.

“Chapters should focus on the one year free membership for currently serving active duty/Guard/Reserve, two years for the price of one for those retired, former officers, and auxiliaries ($27 for officers; $24 for auxiliaries),” he said.

We are hearing now (early September) that there is yet another California chapter in trouble, unable to maintain its membership and unable to recruit new members.

If members will arrange a first year free chapter membership, get acquainted with the nearby military installation or Guard/Reserve armory personnel, and then take time to visit and make a presentation, the probability of getting a significant number of new members is average to high. But it takes members who are willing to do the work, to get out and make the contacts.
