REGISTRATION MATERIALS TO BE DISTRIBUTED END OF SEPTEMBER

Planning continues for the upcoming Council of Presidents Annual Meeting scheduled for November 30-December 2, 2007 at the Embassy Suites Hotel, San Luis Obispo, a site where CAL-MOAA in recent years held a very successful meeting. This is the one time each year all the presidents or their representatives gather to do the Council’s business.

Registration materials will be distributed near the end of September with a hotel reservation deadline of October 31st. Members will make and pay for hotel accomodations on an individual basis.

Those planning to attend will be asked to complete a registration form and submit it to the Central Coast Chapter, the group responsible for local planning and administration. There is no registration fee. The main reason for the form is to pay meals in advance, a Saturday Santa Maria Style Barbecue luncheon ($30) and the Saturday evening banquet offering a choice of salmon/New York steak combo, roast chicken, or a vegetarian plate ($50).

The hotel provides very attractive two-room suites with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The prices are $119 plus tax for a single or double, $129 for a triple, and $139 for four people.

It’s an easy and very pleasant drive to San Luis Obispo from most starting points in the state. There is very good Amtrak train service. The local airport is served by American Eagle and United Express.

Those staying at the Embassy Suites will have a complementary fully cooked-to-order breakfast. In addition, there are a number of restaurants in the nearby shopping center. And last but not least, the manager hosts a two-hour in-the-atrium reception for hotel guests from 5:30 to 7:30pm.

There will be shopping and touring information. All the major retail stores are nearby and a day trip to Hearst Castle, about 35 miles north on Highway 1 is a logical way to spend a day.
