AUXILIARY MEMBER ADVISORY COMMITTEE VERY ACTIVE

I have been an auxiliary member of MOAA for 16 years. Prior to 2004, myu MOAA activities consisted of paying MOAA dues, reading my monthly Military Officer magazine, sending in the preprinted postcards to my senators and representatives to support MOAA’s top legislative goals, and attending an occasional meeting.

I thought I was staying abreast of the issues.

But since July 2004, I have been privileged to take part in the Auxiliary Member Advisory Committee meetings and to attend MOAA board meetings with our committee. I have observed the dedicated and enthusiastic board and staff of MOAA at work.

I am continually impressed with the energy and passion with which they strive to improve the lives of our uniformed servicemembers and their families–retired, active duty, and reserve–whether they are MOAA members or not.

We as auxiliary members continue to enjoy benefits, such as TRICARE For Life and reversal of the Survivor Benefit Plan age-62 benefit reduction, which were attained by the hard work of MOAA’s members, staff and board of directors.

We hope to activate more auxiliary members and spouses of members so they will join in spreading the word about MOAA and what MOAA membership offers to every military officer’s family.

The Auxiliary Member Advisory Committee is open to new ideas and can be reached through the auxiliary liaison in your chapter.
