to send a prepared message to both California Senators and your Congressional Representatives. Note in the second paragraph of the prepared message I needed to delete the 2nd “would”.
Now that the Senate and House have approved their separate versions of the FY2008 Defense Authorization Bill, House and Senate members have begun conferring to iron out differences between the two bills.
We’re pleased that Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) won a Senate provision to implement 30-year paid-up SBP coverage now and bar deduction of VA survivor benefits from SBP annuities. But those hard-fought efforts will be wasted if those provisions aren’t retained in current defense bill negotiations.
Please use MOAA’s e-mail alert to urge your legislators to “End SBP Inequities.” Please also send them the other suggested MOAA alert messages posted on that page, just as we’re asking other MOAA members to send the SBP message.
If we all “hang together” we can maximize grassroots support for each issue and keep from “hanging separately” through insufficient mail volume.
