    MILITARY ASSISTANT TO AMBASSADOR PAUL BREMER

    COL Kevin R. Riedler, OD, USA, Commanding Officer, U.S. Army Combat Training Center, Fort Hunter Liggett, CA will be the featured speaker at Saturday’s Annual Meeting banquet.

    He will provide perspectives on the War on Terror, current events in the Middle East, status of the Armed Forces, and how Fort Hunter Liggett and Camp Roberts are being used as deployment platforms for Guard and Reserve forces headed overseas. In addition, he will share his thinking about the importance of professional military associations.

    A native Minnesotan and West Point graduate, Colonel Riedler’s most recent assignments include serving as the Deputy Commander for Readiness at the 81st Regional Readiness Command in Birmingham, Alabama; two tours as an instructor at the Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania; a tour as a Military Assistant to Ambassador Paul Bremer, with responsibility for electrical infrastructure security planning for the country of Iraq.

    When not in Iraq, he served as a Strategic Planner for the Office of the Assistants to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for National Guard and Reserve Affairs–the advisors to the Chairman for all Reserve Component matters.

    COL Riedler also served as a Legislative Affairs Officer with specific responsibility managing day-to-day communications for the Chief, Army Reserve with the Association of the United States Army (AUSA), Reserve Officers Association (ROA), Senior Army Reserve Commander’s Association (SARCA), Army Reserve Forces Policy Committee, and Reserve Forces Policy Board. He served six years as a member of AUSA Board of Advisors, Vice Chairman of the ROA Roles and Missions Committee, ROA’s National Executive Committee, and has been a regular speaker/mentor at numerous Junior Officer Leadership Training and Development seminars.

    He is a MOAA National member and member of Silicon Valley Chapter.

    COL Riedler has a Computer Science Masters Degree from Brigham Young University, and completed a year’s Senior Service College national security fellowship at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, in lieu of the War College.

    His off-duty “work” includes local youth sports teams, boy scouts, and church programs. He and his family have been heavily involved in music, singing with the Mormon Choir in Washington, D.C. and in numerous musicals.

    In his most important roles, COL Riedler and his bride Beth have been married for more than 25 years, and they have five children ranging from 24 to 11 years of age.
