PROFIT AND FUN PLANNED FOR SAN LUIS OBISPO
CAPT Bill Sturman, USN (RET), Director, Inland Empire Area 7, constantly urges the EXCOM to plan some fun times for Council meetings.
The upcoming Council of Chapter Presidents Annual Meeting set for November 30-December 2, 2007 in San Luis Obispo is a time when EXCOM members and chapter presidents will gather to do the Council’s business. And have some fun, too!
What do members get for their $0.75 annual Council dues?
They get a chance to undertake initiatives, programs, and projects at the state level designed to make a difference to the wider military community.
And they get a chance to celebrate with real joy. Have a great travel experience. In this case enjoy the Central Coast, the gorgeous city of San Luis Obispo, the ocean vistas, and associate with others with common interests, experiences, and objectives. They get a chance to have a whole lot of fun in a structured environment.
The business meetings will be a time for somber reflection and planning and yet there will be some delightful social times as well–formal and informal activities including a hotel reception Friday evening for registered guests, perhaps an area dinner meeting, breakfast together for many, a splendid Santa Maria Style bar-be-que Saturday noon, another hotel hosted reception, a gala banquet in the evening, and much more.
But the emphasis will be on joy.
The Council has been making real progress in 2007 and there is cause for celebration. The statewide structure is in place, the purposes are being fulfilled, and a dedicated core of people are working hard to make things better.
The EXCOM wants everyone to have a good time. That’s why San Luis Obispo and the Embassy Suites were chosen. That’s why some very fine meals have been ordered. That’s why special outings have been planned for spouses and guests. The intent is for everyone to really enjoy the annual meeting and its associated events and activities.
The weekend is going to cost some money. But it will be worth it because the planning is in place to make a very good time possible. It will be an opportunity to delight in the riches of the occasion.
Joy is contagious. Joy is strength. The Annual Meeting will be a time to enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, certainly enjoy everything life and the event have to offer.
The Council is making a very good time available. But it’s a choice. See the good. See the possibilities. Join with others and sense the real joy. Have some fun in San Luis Obispo!
Today is a good time to get started, to prepare for the Annual Meeting and its times of business and fun. Get ready. Get in the mood. Rejoice!
