JUBILANT TRIBUTE FOR JOHNNY GRANT MARCH 6TH

    Hollywood, CA
    February 28:

The community of Hollywood will say goodbye to JohnnyGrant — for a quarter of a century Hollywood’s Honorary Mayor and Number 1 Cheerleader - at 10 AM on Thursday March 6 at The Pantages Theatre.

Grant died January 9 of a heart attack in his Penthouse suite at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel where he had resided for the past 16 years. He had recently returned from his 60th overseas USO tour to bring Christmas cheer to American troops stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He was 84 years of age.

“The ‘Celebration of the Great Life of a Great Man’” will reflect Grant’s upbeat, high energy life, and will feature a military band mini-concert, a walk-through display on his myriad accomplishments, rousing Gospel Choir numbers and amusing recollections by more than a dozen Hollywood luminaries who were close friends of “The Mayor of Hollywood.” This will be a joyful event according to Grant’s longtime friend, Hollywood TV and special events producer Michael Teilmann who will host the “Tinseltown Salute” at the landmark Pantages Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard east of Vine St.

“In keeping with Johnny’s overwhelming enthusiasm for the joy of Hollywood, we are keeping laughter and great memories uppermost during this special salute” said Teilmann.

Members of all branches of the military, active, Guard and reserves and their families are invited along with veterans and veterans groups.

Friends and colleagues are invited to telephone their RSVPs to 323-464-9154 to assure seating, which will be on a “first-come, first-served” basis.
