VETERANS AND FAMILIES NEEDS ASSESSMENT PROJECT
We did get approval of our proposal by the Lt. Governor last week. Unfortunately, he seems to be in a hurry, so I am pressing my committee.
We can use MOAA help in a couple areas of effort. A former or current JAG might keep us out of trouble and military administration experts representing each branch of service would also help to review military administrative documents.
I am also looking for a volunteer statistician to help create the right sample size and to help interpret results.
If CALMOAA has any volunteers who want to get involved, they can write me at: geocopy@aol.com

Just a brief update on the proposal to conduct a comprehensive needs assessment for veterans and deployed soldiers and their families.
I briefed the Lt. Governor at 5:15 last Friday and was pleased to get his approval. Unfortunately, in a way, he added considerable scope to the effort by including the University of California system. He is on their board and the addition makes sense, but it will mean that I need more help
to get the people and the skillls we need to succeed in the assessment.
I would now like to enlist the people we need who know military administration or counseling
or have medical knowledge so that we can begin to draft assessment instruments
We may need a good statistician who can tell us whether we should use a Chi Square or whatever to be sure that our study is representative of the veterans. We cannot interview everybody and I would like to have a 95% Confidence level that we have the right information.
I am currently trying to get Boeing involved to help support the promotion of the assessment. If we do not get any soldiers to speak to us, this idea could fail.
