SUPPORTERS TO HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE
San Francisco CA, July 3, 2008 -
Choice for Students will hold a Press Conference to celebrate the successful petitions drive to save the JROTC program. Turn-in to the Department of Elections will immediately follow the Press Conference. This effort was over 85% volunteer driven and the students, parents, and instructors were instrumental in reaching our goal of over 13,000 signatures in just under 30 days. The JROTC Program was supported by every High School Principal, Every Parent Teacher Student Association, and over 85% of students, JROTC and Non-JROTC. This petitions drive and ballot initiative will convince the school board that they cannot place their own ideological and political agenda over the welfare of the students and schools.
Choice for Students believes the choice should be left up to students and their parents, not politicians as to whether students can attend the JROTC program. The JROTC has the support of 85% of the students polled (citywide), as well as all of the Parent Teacher Student associations at the affected schools, and all of the principals at these schools. JROTC does not discriminate.
