REALS AND LEIDY SEEK TO LEAD CAL-MOAA DURING PERIOD 2009-2011
This is to submit the Committee’s subject report. As a body we have chosen the following Orange County and Sacramento Chapters Members respectively as the nominees.
For President Cal-MOAA the nominee is Col William Reals, USA-Ret. and for Vice President Cal-MOAA the nominee is LtCol Al Leidy, USMC -Ret..
Both Gentlemen seek to serve the California Council of Chapters in the Offices they are nominated for and if so elected agree to so serve.
So it is with great pleasure the Committee submits to you the foregoing results for the task assigned.

We are very grateful that these two distinguished leaders have chosen to move the Council forward for the next two (2) year term.
COL Bill Reals, USA (RET)
COL Reals was commissioned in May 1968 from the Army ROTC program at Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas. His branch at Commissioning was the Signal Corps.
His initial assignment was to the 440th Signal BN; 7th Signal Brigade in Kaiserslautern, West Germany. He has served overseas and stateside in a number of Signal Corps units and has also served on the General Staff of The Army Signal Command, Ft. Huachuca, AZ.
He is a Graduate of the Signal Officer Advance Course, the Command and General Staff College, The National Defense University, and The Air War College.
His assignments have been both Branch specific, Branch Immaterial, and as a Signal Officer at HQ, The Army Security Agency. His has over 30 years of Commissioned Service both Active and Reserve.
He holds a Masters Degree from Eastern New Mexico University, Portales, New Mexico. COL Reals is married to Mary M. Reals who is a Special Education Teacher in the Santa Ana School System. He has two children and 6 proxy grandchildren.
He has been active in MOAA for the last ten years at the chapter and director level. His home chapter is Orange County Chapter where he served as the chapter president for two consecutive terms; he currently serves as The Council’s Vice President.
LtCol Al Leidy, USMC-Ret
Born in Reno Nevada 1922. Graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in San Diego in 1938. Attended San Diego State College, College of Pacific (UOP), Uni. of So Cal., Graduated from University of Maryland.
Enlisted in the United States Marine Corps 1942, Retired in 1966. Employed by the University of California as Assistant Comptroller in 1966. Served as Vice President Administration and Controller at San Francisco State University from 1972 - 1984.
Moved to Sacramento in 1985.
Member of TROA-MOAA since 1966. Served as Vice President, President and Board Member of Sacramento Chapter of MOAA until 2007.
An election of officers and the installation ceremony will be conducted during the Council of Chapter President’s Annual Meeting on 24 October 2009 in San Diego, all in accordance with bylaws provisions as follows:

Special notes:
Additional nominations may be made from the floor prior to the election, provided a brief biography and statement of willingness to serve are made available to all of the Affiliated Chapter Presidents or the Designated Representatives not less than 24 hours before the scheduled election.
Voting is likely to be by voice vote. CAL-MOAA voting shall be structured to provide rapid response from a wide representation by the use of voice voting or division of assembly for all Members of MOAA present when issues which are not critical, not closely contested, or do not require a roll-call vote or secret ballot are under consideration.
Congratulations to COL Bill Reals, nominee for President, and LtCol Al Leidy, nominee for Vice President, for being named the as the nominees for the term 2009-2011.
