    San Diego Chapter Holiday Event 12/16/06 (Followup)

    The holiday party went very well, with great food, comraderie in the Chapter, and entertainment from a Quartet known as the Rolling Tones. They performed a mix of holiday music and oldies, to the great delight of all present. Our installation of officers was held, with LT Peg Boyce, USN-Ret serving her second term as President.

    Orange County Chapter

    On Sunday 12 November, The Orange County Chapter of MOAA will host a booth at the Annual City of Tustin Veterans Day Celebraton. The participants will have booths in the Pepper Tree Park in the city of Tustin. The purpose is to highlight the activites of various Veteran Organizations in Orange County. The Chpt will have Officers and members present during the day. Booth members will be explaining what MOAA does and soliciting new members that may stop by. This is a great opportunity for recruiting new members to our organization. THe activities start at 12:00 Noon until 1600hrs. See you there.

    Marine Corps Birthday Ball

    COLORFUL EVENT SET FOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

    LtCol William G. Byrne, Jr., USMC (Ret), Pendleton Chapter, Oceanside, CA, announced August 31st that the chapter would sponsor an upcoming Military Officers Ball honoring the 231st anniversary of the United States Marine Corps.

    He would appreciate it if all chapters would place this information in newsletters and make appropriate announcements at group meetings.

    The event will take place Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the spacious South Mesa Staff Noncommissioned Officers Club, located just inside the Camp Pendleton main gate near I-5. No host cocktails begin at 1730 and continue until 1900; there will be a special ceremony at 1900 followed by dinner at 1930; dancing will be available from 2000 until 2300.

    The chapter invites all officers, retired and active, plus former officers of all services who would like to attend, as well as their guests. Formal uniform or appropriate civilian attire is required.

    Dinner entres include prime rib, chicken, and a vegetarian plate. There will be a 50/50 raffle and tickets can be purchased for $10.

    Cost for the event is $35 per person. Reservations can be made by mailing a check or Visa-Master Card credit card number to LtCol Bill Byrne, 851 El Caminito Road, Fallbrook, CA 92028, telephone (760) 723-4751, e-mail wbyrne851@aol.com. Please enclose a self-addressed envelope for tickets.

    A special reservation form is available for printing in a chapter newsletter.

    Military Officers Ball

    The Pendleton Chapter of The Military Officers Association of America is sponsoring the Military Officers Ball honoring the 231st anniversary of The United States Marine Corps. This event occurs on Saturday 4 November 2006. The location is the spacious South Mesa Staff Noncommissioned Officers Club, located a short distance inside Camp Pendleton’s main gate near I-5. We are able to accommodate all officers, former, retired and active, of all services that wish to attend. Formal uniform or appropriate civilian attire is required. We invite officers to bring guests to this most colorful occasion.

    The schedule is as follows:

    No Host Cocktails ______ 1730 – 1900
    Ceremony ____________ 1900
    Dinner _______________ 1930
    Dancing ______________ 2000 – 2300

    The cost for this event is still only $35.00 per person. Questions and reservations can be made at (760) 723-4751. A credit card or mailed check will guarantee your table. Also, this year we have introduced a 50/50 raffle. Tickets may be purchased for $10.00 each.
