    Give Me 10! Update

    890 NEW MEMBERS TO DATE

    Dear Council and Chapter President:

Congratulations! The 2008 GMT Campaign is taking off - to date we have recruited over 890 new members.

Early last month we announced the top recruiting council and independent chapters in each of the four regions for the 1st Quarter. Remember - A quarterly council winner can not win consecutively but may win two out of the four quarters. The non-aligned Chapters will compete by region for the Top “independent” Recruiter award. Same rules apply - an independent chapter cannot win consecutively but can win two out of the four quarters for which the awards are presented. Each quarter the winning councils and the top independent chapter will receive a $250
    campaign incentive.

The “field” is wide open for the second quarter - I hope to see your name listed with the other winners in early July.

This is the time of the year, late April, May and June, to recruit newly commissioned ROTC graduates. In our travels Lee and I observe many of you taking full advantage of this opportunity. I’d encourage you all to seize this opportunity. This is a great program that pays dividends for both the new officers and the chapters. continue reading

As of April 14, 2008, we have recruited 697 members during the 2008 Give Me 10! (GMT) campaign. We are off to a great start in large part due to your efforts as leaders within your
organizations. Our 2008 GMT campaign goal is 3,000 members, and with your continued leadership and support we can reach our goal.

The 1st quarter GMT council winners, along with the number of members they?ve recruited between Jan. 1 and March 31, are as follows:

    New Give Me 10! Incentives

YEAR OF THE CHAPTER; IT’S ABOUT YOU

At this year’s Council Presidents’ Seminar, we spent several hours discussing the Year of the Chapter with our council and chapter leaders. MOAA chairman Gen. Michael P.C. Carns,
USAF-Ret., announced the launch of the Year of the Chapter in the February 2008 issue of Military Officer. This important effort now has been extended to include 2008 and 2009 to allow
us to accomplish even more in strengthening our chapter system.

The most important goal during the Year of the Chapter is recruiting new members for our chapter system. In our view, the biggest single group of potential chapter members is the more
than 290,000 MOAA non-chapter members. National MOAA will focus on “pushing” these members toward joining a chapter, and we’ll take actions to better complement your own recruiting efforts to “pull” them into chapters - with the end result being a significant increase in new chapter members.

Important to this effort will be refocusing the Give Me 10! program to emphasize new chapter members. Key to this will be incentives to get non-chapter members to join chapters and keep
current chapter members in chapters. continue reading

    Give Me 10! Update

    COMPETITION RULES AND REGULATIONS

The 2008 Give Me 10! (GMT) recruiting campaign is now in full swing.

In early April, we will recognize the top recruiting council in each of the four regions and present our first set of quarterly awards. Remember, a quarterly council winner cannot win consecutively but may win two out of the four quarters.

Non-affiliated chapters (states with no council) will compete by region for the top “independent chapter” quarterly award. The same rules apply - an independent chapter cannot win
consecutively but can win two out of the four quarters awards are presented. Each quarter the winning councils and top independent chapter will receive a $250 incentive.

Make sure you dispose of any old 2007 membership application forms. You can tell the 2008 forms by looking at the code in the lower right-hand corner of the forms. The green form’s first three digits are M08, the yellow form is F08, and the life member form is M08. The key is all forms include 08 in their code.

“GIVE ME 10!” 2008 COMING SOON

The 2008 “Give Me 10!” campaign will launch Jan. 1 and will run until Dec. 31, 2008, giving chapters a full year to recruit. This is a change from previous years when we started the new program March 1.

Council and chapter presidents will receive their 2008 Give Me 10! Recruiting Kits this month. Included in the kits are success stories from last year’s effort, rules and incentives for the 2008 campaign, and membership applications. Also, look for a new chapter brochure you can use to get more officers to join your chapter.

Recruiting materials for the 2008 Give Me 10! campaign will be available online Jan. 1, 2008. Bookmark the Give Me 10! Web site http://www.moaa.org/givemeten in your Web browser now, and plan to visit it throughout the 2008 campaign so you can keep up with the latest campaign news.

    Recruiting Boost

    ADJUTANT GENERAL SUPPORTS ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP

In a letter directed to California National Guard personnel 15 March 2007, Major General William H. Wade II, the Adjutant General, suggested it would be useful to become acquainted with and support a military professional association.

His statement should be helpful when approaching National Guard officers for membership, demonstrating that membership in such organizations is appropriate and has value.

Here is General Wade’s letter: continue reading
