    Give Me 10! Update

    ACHIEVING SUCCESS

Col Lee Lange II, USMC-Ret, Director, MOAA Director Councils and Chapters Affairs, speaking at the May 19th Chapter Presidents Leadership Workshop, Vandenberg Air Force Base, urged chapter presidents to help MOAA National achieve its goal of adding 2600+ new members during 2007.

He said this year’s Give Me 10! Campaign operates from March 1, 2007 through December 31st with all chapters considered to be participating.

“Chapters should focus on the one year free membership for currently serving active duty/Guard/Reserve, two years for the price of one for those retired, former officers, and auxiliaries ($27 for officers; $24 for auxiliaries),” he said. continue reading

    BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

Members all over California are discovering there are officers in the community who would be interested in membership if they knew about the opportunity.

They often just don’t know a chapter exists.

Membership invitations are going out to officers all over the country, in large part because of the current Give Me 10! program.

It’s possible to review the latest new member numbers both by category and by state by going to the MOAA web base site http://www.moaa.org/. Go to “Community,” click on “Chapters & Councils,” then click on Give Me 10!/New Incentives, and finally click on Give me 10! Recruitment Tracking. continue reading

    Association Membership

OFFICERS MIGHT SHOW INTEREST IF THEY HEAR ABOUT MOAA

If you were to ask the question, “Have you ever thought of joining MOAA?” you might get a far away stare. Many officers, particularly junior officers, have never heard of MOAA.

And, once officers do hear about the Association and what it does they often express an interest in membership. In short, there are a lot of officers in the community who would be interested in a local chapter and national membership if they just knew more about the organization and what it does.

So, if you run into an officer somewhere, sometime what do you say? continue reading

    Give Me 10!

    SECRETS FROM THE FIELD

The 42-member Lake Tahoe Chapter decided to take on the 2006 Give Me 10! Campaign competition early in Category I (49 or fewer members), and ended up recruiting a total of 59 new members for national MOAA.

According to LtCol Maurice Roger Leach, USAF-Ret, the chapter also signed up 23 new chapter members.

Leach credits national MOAA for providing a list of names and contact information for potential members. He also used a membership list from another military association, which folded, to identify other officers eligible to join national MOAA and the Lake Tahoe Chapter.

Most effective was the personal approach–calling prospective members and explaining the benefits of membership. The chapter also placed meeting notices in three local newspapers, and each chapter member received two national membership forms and was asked to recruit two officers for the chapter.
