Dear Mary.

My pleasure. Makes us wonder why we’d never done so before!

FYI, on the August 2008 issue of Military Officer magazine we’ll have a coverwrap similar to the spouse coverwrap, but this one will go out to auxiliary members.

I’ll check with our Benefits Information Department about your question on the mail order pharmacy. I know they’ve do items in the past about how to use this system. We also keep permanent information on the Web site at
http://www.moaa.org/serv/serv_health/serv_health_pharm/serv_health_pharm_tmop.htm. Unfortunately, the magazineis so limited in pages that we can’t continually repeat standing information.

MOAA also publishes a TRICARE Pharmacy Brochure that members may order or download: http://www.moaa.org/serv/serv_health/serv_health_pharm/serv_health_pharm_tmop.htm

Best wishes,

Warren

Col. Lacy:
I was most happy to receive your prompt and positive reply to my suggestion for an Auxiliary "In Memoriam".

I notified Warren Enos our President, and he has put it on our website.

When I received the May issue of MILITARY OFFICER and saw the MOAA SPOUSE cover, my reaction was "what a great idea".

I keep pushing auxiliary wives and regular officers to avail themselves of the mail order pharmacy. Perhaps an article in a future issue explaining exactly how to go about setting up an account with Express Scripts would be of benefit.

I started ordering when it was Merck Medco. I keep my credit card on file, so paying is very simple.

Again, thank you.

I commend all who pulled this event together. I hope it is a sell-out!

Wonder if any active duty or reservists will fly in by helo? Having a few military birds arrive on deck would be great. Getting a ride for a short hop would be even greater.

Nice segment on PBS the other day with Huell Howser on the Midway and Hornet, http://www.calgold.com/calgold/Default.asp?Series=Specials&Show=984.

I attended the National Day of Prayer event on the South Steps of the State Capitol. Well organized and well attended as these things go.

On the West Steps - the most desirable location for a rally was a Mexican/Hispanic group with lots of state and local security personnel all about. Who knows how many were not citizens? May Day is traditionally a communist holiday and they were there with their literature. Thank goodness no oposing forces so everything remained peaceful in a very loud way. Those in prayer around the corner simply had to block it out.

When in Sacramento check out the activities mid-day at the Capitol. Always something interesting with one group or another conveying their message.

Good to have one group chatting with God!

This good news is true but everyone needs to know that the need will be ongoing for several years. By giving this wide distribution some might cone to the conclusion that their help is no longer needed. Which is not the case.

My golly what a great disertation to explain the Cal-MOAA affliation, participation and objectives. The Cal-MOAA Secretary should send this to every Chapter (including the non affiliated ones) and request it be published in their Chapter Newsletter. He should also send it National for publication in the "Military Officer" monthly magazine.
However, for the record our California Council(s) have been affilated with National for far longer than 25 years. Of course then we were two Councils (North & South) that stretched back to my knowledge to 1967 way before the joining together in 1983. Heck we might even ask consideration for affilation be granted for the formation of ROA,then TROA and now MOAA to way back in Long Beach,California in 1929.

This new approach has a very good chance of succeeding. Namely because it's outside the previous attempt to do it within the confines of the Coast Guard manuel. However, the demise of the previous Chapter was without doubt the lack of Retired Officers willing to step forward and take the few required leadership positions. So from my past experience in Chapter formation and reformation I offer these considerations - namely you must have at least four individuals that come forth dedicated to Chapter formation. Also forget the lapsed Chapter name and let the new prospective leadership choose what they wish to be known as. As Bill Gavitts like to state - justs my 2 cents.

I followed up on the actions of the Assembly Education Committee and it sailed through on the 16th, 7-0.

It is now in the Assembly Appropriations Committee. Easy to track. Go to www.assembly.ca.gov_ (http://www.assembly.ca.gov) and select Committee Directory on the left side of that home page. Scroll down to Appropriations.

There are 17 members. Suggest calling the one(s) you know and also the Chair and the Staff (number on the top right).

I believe we can keep the interest up and this moving if we get the word out. Nine states must pass this to keep it of interest to Congress.

How many schools were your kids in? Our three were in 12 from kindergarten through high school.
